The Squib Vol 8 No 5 22nd October 2007

Hi friends,
It’s always a pleasure meeting you in the lawyers’ parliament. Of course, sessions are always interesting and educative.
Top of the agenda this week is about a sad revelation made by one judge about another. We refer to an indictment passed on former Lagos State Judge Honourable Justice Eniola Longe, by a serving Lagos State Judge Alaba Marsha J. It is a serious matter and an explosive read, Squib style.
Tongues have continued to wag on the in-fighting among the F.R.A Williams’ children. The Learned Squib has a unique perspective to the imbroglio which has brought dishonour to the noble name and legacy of the late Colossus at law. Bet, you’ll enjoy the article.(See http://www.learnedsquib.wordpress.com)
All your other Sweet Regulars, save ‘Art Quake’ and ‘Art Attack’ are on the ‘menu’. Peppery and sweet as usual.
Well until when next we meet in the parliament, Do not take it easy. Don’t carry your music to the grave. Give life your best shots. The Heavens Will Not Fall!

The Squib Vol 8 No 4 15th October 2007

Hi Friends,

On 17th August 2007, Chief Magistrate Olufemi Isaac of Court 1, Igbosere Magistrate delivered judgement in the celebrity case of A/10A/2006 C.O.P. vs Ibinabo Fiberesima. The judgement, published in full here: http://www.squibcoverstory.blogspot.com has turned controversial, so much so that the Lagos State Government has taken the rare step of appealing against it. The judgement and its surrounding controversy is our cover story.

We have two powerful contributors this week. The first is F.O. Akerele Esq. who sent in a tribute to the late Sobo Sowemimo S.A.N. who died about three weeks ago.

The second is Oladele Solanke Esq. who wrote on CORPORATE GOVERNANCE ISSUES IN FINANCIAL REPORTING – THE CHALLENGE FOR THE BAR.
This absorbing piece was a paper delivered at the just concluded NBA Annual Conference which took place in Ilorin in August 2007.

All your sweet regulars, Squib Readers Pavilion, The Learned Squib (see: http://www.learnedsquib.wordpress.com) ; Monitor, the Squib Diary (see: http://www.squiblogg.blogspot.com) are present save Case Law – for obvious reasons.

Well, until when next the parliament opens, do not take it easy. Give life your best shots. The Heavens Will Not Fall!
